Tap Turners are also excellent Bathroom Aids for persons with Mobility Impairments, the elderly or persons with poor grip, they are inexpensive, practical and can be used for bathroom or kitchen.
Generally made from strong moulded ABS plastic, they are easy to fit and adjustable to suit almost any size of crystal or crosshead tap. They simply hook over the top of any X type tap, giving the user extra leverage for turning taps.

Grab Rails are a MUST for Bathroom safety! Available in a variety of sizes and configurations, they can literally be used anywhere – In the shower, around the bath, to aid in getting on or off the toilet or in and out of the bath.

2. Bath Aids

Some persons with Mobility Impairments prefer to bath. Many bathrooms have baths already installed, but these baths are not always easy to get in and out of. There are however a variety of products, including the Anti-slip Bath Mats and Bath Grab Rails mentioned above, and Bath Steps and Bath Lifts below to help prevent you from slipping in the bath and to assist you to get in or out of the bath safely.

The elderly and some persons with Mobility Impairments have the ability to get in and out of the bath, but need some assistance, can benefit from equipment such as Anti-slip Bath Mats, Bath Grab Rails and Bath Steps. This equipment does not only keep you from slipping in the bath but can also assist you to get in or out of the bath safely.

Most Non-Slip Bath Mats and Accessories which prevent slipping are designed to be used in both the bath and shower to improve comfort and safety and can easily be attached to the floor of the shower or base of most standard baths, therefore minimizing the risk of slipping when getting into, and out of the shower or bath.

Bath Benches, Bath Boards, Bath Swivel Seats and Bath Chairs are all Bath Aids that assist you to make your bath more comfortable, safer and to keep you from slipping getting or out of the bath.

 is a turning bath seat that allows easy transfer over the bath. The user sits on the seat from the side of the bath and then swivels over the bath for a wash or shower. It rests on any standard bath, no fixtures or fittings are required and it is easy to remove from the bath or to clean the plastic seat, which has small drainage holes.

c) Bath Lifts

Bath Lifts are available in different types in order to lower persons with Mobility Impairments down into the bath, you will need to choose one that is suited to meet your needs, some of these lifts are easy to install, while other Bath Lifts may require slight alterations to your bathroom to be able to install these lifts.
Bath lifts offer powered movement to aid people with low mobility to immerse themselves into a bath while comfortably seated.

3. Shower Aids

If you have mobility Impairment and prefer to shower, you will require a Showering Aid to assist you – and you will probably need to do alterations to make your shower more open plan and Wheelchair Accessible.

If you do require an open plan bathroom, that can accommodate a wheelchair or similar – we recommended that you visit our section on Accessible Bathrooms.

Or you will require a Shower aid, where you can transfer into the Shower, onto a Shower Chair/Bench/Stool – or wheel in using a Shower Chair/Commode.

Shower commodes differ from standard commodes in two primary ways: 1. They are waterproof and rust-proof and 2. They always have wheels.

If you have recently undergone an operation, or are unable to sit up, you may need to use a Shower Trolley to be able to shower.
