About Igor
Igor Rix is a co-founding director of Disability Info South Africa (DISA) in his capacity as director of Universal Accessibility (UA) since 2019. DISA is an online disability community engagement, information and services platform. This platform provides disability consciousness training, support services and accessible cities projects with key experts across the disability spectrum.
Igor combines his lived-in experience being a parent of a child with spinal paraplegia with his consultancy expertise being a Certified Professional in Accessible Built Environments (CPABE).
Igor’s passion is in addressing the multitude accessibility and knowledge barriers and has for the past 15 years been working tirelessly across South Africa and other jurisdictions to provide accessibility and inclusive design

Dass- Solutions contracted Igor as an accessibility consultant as part of a lead group of Access Professionals from across various continents, working as a collaborative on an expansive and very unique universal accessibility project in the UAE.

Igor has been associated with Inclusive Design for almost a decade and is continuously involved in various universal design and accessibility projects in his capacity as, but not limited to, accessibility consultant, researcher, plan reviewer and access auditor.
University of the Western Cape
SNAPP Architects were commissioned by the University of the Western Cape to enhance their Great Hall auditoriums for accessibility. Igor was commissioned by SNAPP Architects as the accessibility consultant tasked with advising on the project. He conducted a targeted Universal Access Assessment aimed at identifying critical accessibility issues and recommending priority actions to ensure compliance with local accessibility standards.
Premier Hotels & Resorts
Premier Hotels & Resorts undertook a project to redesign their conference facilities and contracted Igor to conduct detailed access audits and provide architectural and interior design advice for the team working on their conference facility to be inclusive and access compliant
Muizenberg Beach Front Promenade
The City of Cape Town Municipality (COCT) was approached by the Western Cape Network on Disability (WCND) to consult on accessibility compliance. Igor, as a key member of the WCND provided access consultancy to the COCT on the project.
Othello Retirement Village
The age care facility made the conscious decision to address their accessibility compliance and appointed Igor
to conduct a detailed assessment of their parking and principles entrances for accessibility as part of a long
term upgrade and refurbishment project.
St Luke’s Healthcare Facilities, KZN, SA
The medical services provider’s ambition for accessibility and inclusion led to the appointment of Igor as the accessibility and inclusion advisor on the project which included the provision of UA advice and solutions for this medical facility to cater to patients with intellectual and physical impairments.
