About the Home Lifts

Lifta Home Lifts operate on a standard 220 V household power supply and have low energy requirements. If a power failure occurs while the lift is in use, the battery backup allows it to travel safely to the lowest level so the passenger can exit. A suitable inverter or solar power system can also supply the power needed to operate the lift during load shedding. This gives households another way to maintain access between floors when the main electricity supply is interrupted.

A Home Lift can be included in the plans for a new home or fitted into an existing one. This flexibility makes it possible to improve access between floors without having to move from the home you love. Once the site is ready for installation, our skilled technicians typically complete the work within two days, with minimal disruption to your daily routine.

Empowering Independence Through Innovation

Unlike a conventional lift, a Lifta Home Lift does not require a shaft, pit or separate machine room. Its dual rail system provides a self supporting structure, with the lift’s weight transferred through the rails to the floor. This design can reduce the amount of building work needed and gives homeowners more flexibility when choosing a location for their lift.

The Trio Home Lift was designed with accessibility in mind. Its integrated ramp supports easier wheelchair entry, while its spacious cabin can accommodate many wheelchair models, subject to an individual assessment. The controls and grab bar can be positioned at suitable heights to meet the user’s needs. Our goal is to help people move between floors with greater comfort, confidence and independence.

Current and Future Plans

Disability Rights Awareness Month is observed from 3 November to 3 December, culminating in National Disability Rights Awareness Day, but DiSA believes awareness and action must extend beyond a single month.

As a free and leading disability information portal, DiSA actively promotes year-round awareness through initiatives such as the launch of the Accessible Cities South African Platform and its partnership with Lifta, which was started in October 2026.

Through this collaboration, DiSA commits to creating awareness about products that promote access for persons with disabilities to create accessible environments that empower them to live their best lives.

True accessibility goes far beyond physical features like ramps; it encompasses access to environments, information, products, and services, requiring collective effort from all stakeholders to drive meaningful and lasting change.
