Disability Awareness Training for targeted audiences
Our Disability Awareness Training for targeted audiences are designed for impact, delivered as relatable, relevant and reforming, our unique approach includes the following key elements:
– Delivered by a facilitator with a disability who combines lived experiences of disability with global professional expertise to land a practical, relevant and stereotype-shifting learning experience.
– Focussed on repositioning disability and its value in our economy and community from a rights-based, ecosystemic perspective.
– Presents relatable ‘life story’ scenarios that challenge the unconscious biases which so often underpin assumptions and stereotypes.
– Includes practical experiential exercises, and practical take aways, that translate to changed behaviours in the workplace and personal life experiences.

Communications Campaign
Communicating the right messaging on Disability as a form of Diversity, and its value to business and society, is a key success factor in promoting Inclusion and building a culture of respect. The aim of any Disability Communications Campaign is to ‘normalise’ disability, shift perceptions which form barriers to inclusion, and create a culture of trust in which employees feel confident to disclose a disability in order equalize opportunities for success. Paramount to the success of changing perceptions around disability is the use of the correct ‘language’ and messaging content. This campaign includes a brand/logo design and 5 digital communications including context and design work.

Current & Future Plans
Disability Rights Awareness Month is observed from 3 November to 3 December, culminating in National Disability Rights Awareness Day, but DiSA believes awareness and action must extend beyond a single month.
As a free, leading disability information portal, DiSA actively promotes year-round awareness through initiatives such as the launch of the Accessible Cities South African Platform and its partnership with Bradshaw LeRoux Consulting in November 2022. Through this collaboration, DiSA commits to promoting inclusive practices, highlighting the benefits of employing persons with disabilities, and supporting organisations to create accessible environments that enable success for individuals, businesses, and communities alike.
True accessibility goes far beyond physical features like ramps; it encompasses access to environments, information, products, and services, requiring collective effort from all stakeholders to drive meaningful and lasting change.
